(MIR) JAPANESE GIANT INVESTS IN BRITAIN

Nissan has announced a £1billion plan to build electric cars in the UK.

The Japanese car giant unveiled a major investment in its Sunderland plant in a move that will create 6,200 jobs.

The announcement is a dramatic change in fortunes for the factory which, before a Brexit deal was struck, had faced questions over its future.

Instead, Nissan has picked Sunderland as the site to make a new electric “cross-over” car that will be exported to the EU.

Sunderland is Britain’s biggest car plant, employing around 6,000 workers and supporting up to 24,000 in the supply chain.

Nissan is pumping up to £423million into the new as-yet unnamed model - link - more like this - link
