(RCH) VESTAS V236-15 CHOSEN FOR INCH CAPE PROJECT

Vestas’ giant 15MW offshore wind turbines are in line to equip the 1.1GW Inch Cape project off Scotland in another boost for the Danish OEM’s flagship machine.

Co-developers Red Rock Power of China and Ireland’s ESB named Vestas preferred supplier to Inch Cape, which won a UK contract-for-difference (CfD) support deal in the latest UK government auctions earlier this year.

The preferred supplier agreement for 72 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines also includes a 15-year operations and maintenance deal.

Inch Cape’s project team said: “This is another important step in the development of the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, which will be Scotland’s largest single source of renewable power when commissioned. Vestas brings a wealth of international experience and we look forward to working with the team to deliver this significant project.”

Inch Cape marks another boost for the V236, coming days after it was lined up for the 1.2GW Baltic Power project off Poland.

The V236-15MW, which will capture energy from unprecedented 43,000m2 swept-area using 115.5-metre blades, will be able to generate around 80 GWh/year – 65% higher annual energy production (AEP) than the V174-9.5MW that is already being installed in projects off Europe.

The giant machine – first unveiled in early 2021 – is slated to enter full scale production in 2024 and already has other major orders lined up, including for EnBW’s 900MW He Dreiht in the German North Sea, and Equinor and BP’s 2GW-plus Empire Wind projects off New York. (ENV) THE MOST SUSTAINABLE COMPANY IN THE WORLD

Wind turbine manufacturing giant Vestas (CPH: VWS) has been named as the most sustainable company in the world for 2022.

It is a marked improvement for the Danish company, which ranked 21st in the 2021 index.

There was further success for Denmark with Orsted, one of the world’s biggest renewables company, receiving the title of most sustainable energy company.

It marks four years as the top perfoming energy company for Orsted (CPH: ORSTED), which came in 7th overall, down from 2nd last year.

Spanish company Iberdrola (BME: IBE) also made the cut, ranking 25th, a slight drop on last year’s position.

Published by Corporate Knights, the 18th annual ranking of the world’s most sustainable corporations was released on Wednesday.

The ranking is based on a detailed assessment of 6,914 companies, each with more than $1 billion in revenue, where performance across a range of sustainability metrics is evaluated.

The index revealed circularity and ambitious carbon emissions reduction goals as highly prevalent amongst high performers.

(RED) VESTAS SECURES ORDERS FOR 301MW IN CHINA

Vestas has secured multiple turbine orders in China totalling 301MW as the first quarter of the year draws to a close.

The Danish wind turbine maker announced a 202MW order for an undisclosed project that includes supply of 56 V136-3.45MW turbines delivered in 3.6MW power optimised mode, as well as a two-year active output management service agreement.

Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020, with commissioning planned for the same quarter.

Vestas also secured a 99MW order for two projects in Jiangsu Province.


Both projects will feature a mixed site configuration consisting of V155-3.3MW and V110-2.2MW turbines.

The order, also to an undisclosed customer, includes supply of 16 V155-3.3MW and 21 V110-2.2MW turbines, as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 service agreement.

This is the second order of V155-3.3MW turbines – Vestas’ latest 4 MW platform variant designed for low wind condition – since its introduction in China in June 2019.

HE DREIHT PROJECT - FIRST FOR VESTAS V236 15 MW

Vestas has been named the pre-selected tenderer at EnBW’s 900 MW He Dreiht project to supply the offshore wind turbines, which, depending on a firm and unconditional order eventually being signed, will mark the world`s first commercial deployment of the new V236-15.0 MW offshore turbine. 

This means that this highly advanced turbine type has made its mark after only five months on the market. 

Vestas was pre-selected through an EU tender process to provide V236-15.0 MW turbines for installation at the project in 2025. The He Dreiht project is located in the German North Sea within 85 km of the island of Borkum and 104 km west of the island of Helgoland - link

VESTAS - 105 MW ORDER - CANTABRIA

Vestas has secured a 105MW turbine order for a wind farm project in northern Spain’s Cantabria region.

Biocantaber, a company owned by Iberdrola and Ocyener, placed the order for the supply and installation of 23 V136-4.2MW turbines and two V117-4.2MW turbines.

The project’s mixed technology configuration will offer maximum energy production in the site’s medium and high wind speeds, Vestas said.

“Iberdrola continues to show its commitment to Cantabria, together with its local partners, with a second wind farm in the region, and is expanding its supplier base with Vestas”, said Julio Castro, Iberdrola Renovables Energia CEO.

Turbine delivery is expected by the second half of 2022.

“This order showcases the versatility of our 4MW portfolio and its ability to perform in the most diverse and challenging wind conditions.

VESTAS SECURES 145 MW ORDER FROM LEEWARD

Vestas has secured a 145 MW order to power the Panorama Wind Farm in Colorado, U.S., which is owned by Leeward Renewable Energy.

This order consists of a mix of 2 MW platform turbines including V120-2.2 MW, V110-2.2 MW, and V110-2.0 MW turbines and follows Vestas’ earlier agreement with Leeward Renewable Energy to supply 61 MW of V110-2.0 MW and V120-2.2 MW turbines to repower the Crescent Ridge Wind project in Illinois.

The order includes supply and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimised performance of the asset.
