October 7 (Renewables Now) – GE Renewable Energy said today that India’s JSW Energy Ltd (BOM:533148), part of local conglomerate JSW Group, has ordered 810 MW of onshore wind turbines for its upcoming projects in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The renewable energy arm of General Electric Co (NYSE:GE) will supply turbines of the 2.7-132 model that is primarily designed and manufactured in India. More specifically, the machines will be assembled at GE Renewable Energy’s multi-modal site in Pune, while blades will be sourced from subsidiary LM Wind Power’s factory in Halol, Gujrat.Deliveries are seen to start by the second quarter of 2022 and be finalised by the first quarter of 2023.
At present, JSW Energy is developing wind projects with a combined capacity of around 2 GW, GE said. In addition to the order placed with it, the Indian company is purchasing turbines from Senvion India Pvt Ltd. A few days back, JSW Energy announced a 591-MW order for Senvion turbines.
